When we go to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally the first week in August one of my favorite pass times is to leisurely travel up, down and around in the black hills. There is one special place that is set in the midst of the thick timber where a awesome wooden bridge has been built. It takes care of traffic for more than one level of vehicles, the road winding up and around to go over the bridge again. We have been going to this scenic route for over ten years and each year I look forward to going there and every time we do, again it takes my breath away with it's beauty. Please enter me. It was so beautiful and peaceful there! We would go paddle boating on the lake, and take hikes around the lake and surrounding hills/forested area. We even played paintball at their private course out there. Made some wonderful memories together.

Please enter me in this drawing also!Lora Leasehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15153555405302611096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2968062422345887738.post-87293896819335183292008-06-12T10:44:00.000-05:002008-06-12T10:44:00.000-05:00Your unique novel is so appealing and the cover is...Your unique novel is so appealing and the cover is delightful.
My travels have not been far but a memorable mini-vacation that I took to The Rockies was unforgettable. It sounds like a fascinating--though tragic--even. I'll have to read up on it!

Diane, I visited Carlsbad Caverns with my parents back when I was 13, and I've never forgotten it. You're right about it being an amazing place! Just the other day, my husband and I were saying we needed to plan a time to take our daughter there.

Petite, I've never made it to Leadville yet, but it's always sounded like an interesting place. After reading your post, I'm even more eager to go there someday!

Bethany, I'm so glad you've enjoyed the other books in the series! Is Oatman the name of that Arizona mining town you mentioned? It seems like I remember that's where Gable and Lombard went after they were married in Kingman.

Becky, it's nice to hear from another lover of history. I've been to Mt. Vernon and loved it! I haven't managed to get to Monticello or Williamsburg yet, but someday!Carol Coxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17238877401893888008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2968062422345887738.post-16419207294234533532008-06-11T21:39:00.000-05:002008-06-11T21:39:00.000-05:00This looks like a great book.I've been lucky enoug...This looks like a great book.

I've been lucky enough to done a fair amount of traveling.

I guess my favorite place is Va., when we went to Monticello, and Mt. I can't remember the name, but it was where Clark Gable and Carole Lombard spent their honeymoon. It's a tourist trap now, but outside of the town (which is off a narrow, winding dirt road) you can still see the remains of gold miner's little cabins. It's pretty cool to see pieces of history like that!
Thanks for the drawing!

momofjimmy [at] yahoo [dot] comBethanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04559934405090747046noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2968062422345887738.post-23971686496153583922008-06-11T15:31:00.000-05:002008-06-11T15:31:00.000-05:00This novel looks wonderful. I don't get to travel a lot so I'm having a hard time coming up with an interesting place I've visited. But last month I was in Alberta and visited the site where the Frankslide wiped out the mining town.
Here's a description of it:
Not far from Calgary, Alberta, and just east of the Crowsnest Pass, lies the small, bustling town of Frank, Alberta, nestled on the floor of a deeply-glaciated valley. Looming menacingly nearby is Turtle Mountain. Also nearby is a scene of a destruction of such magnitude that it has never been equalled!
In the early morning hours of April 29, 1903, Turtle Mountain collapsed, resulting in the greatest landslide in North American history. In 100 seconds: at least 76 people were buried alive under tons of massive limestone boulders; three-quarters of the homes in Frank were crushed like balsa wood; over a mile of the Canadian Pacific Railroad was completely destroyed; and a river became a lake.
It was a very interesting but also sad place to visit!Carolynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00473152934136393375noreply@blogger.com
