Patti Lacy and An Irishwoman's Tale...

PATTI LACY & "AN IRISHWOMAN'S TALE"

I got the chance to meet a wonderful lady at ACFW. She is bright, pretty and like a breath of fresh air when she enters the room. She breezes about with a trademark beautiful green scarf that makes you think immediately of Ireland. I believe there is a reason for that. Her name is Patti Lacy and her first novel released last month and it is called, "An Irishwoman's Tale".

Patti has taken women's fiction to an amazing place. This story takes us across an ocean, to a place that is painful to go, but a relief to reach. It brings us to a friendship sown of heartache and reaped in shared tears. I hurt for Mary as she would inch closer to opening up to her new friend Sally and then ached as she would share her past and open raw wounds. Patti has a unique tale to tell and a beautiful style with which to tell it. If you like women's fiction then this book is a much have for your personal library. She will transport you to places you wish you were (like Ireland) and take you back to places you wish you had never been (like being an unwanted, unloved child) and when you are done, you will take a deep breath and wish you had Sally's story to pick up and start reading so you wouldn't have to say good-bye to the characters you have just gotten to know.

I will highlight "An Irishwoman's Tale" more at the end of the month, but I'm going to start a giveaway for a copy of this book now. So leave a comment telling me what about Ireland intrigues you or why you might want to visit there someday (and of course your email address) and I will enter you in the drawing!

I would love to visit Ireland, probably because I would love to travel anywhere, but it has such a sad history, I would love to fall in love with it now.

I am part Irish, and I have always wanted to go to Ireland. I think mainly I want to see my roots. I would especially like the opportunity to see St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin. I am also seriously interested in going to a real Irish Pub. I am a mutt as far as my ancestry goes, but the largest part of me is Irish...it would be cool to explore that side. :)

Hello, I have a friend who lives in Nova Scotia. A few years ago, she traveled to Ireland just for the authentic music and pubs. When I think of Ireland, I think of lovely moors and Irish dancing! Her story would be great to read during a cool Fall evening in front of our fireplace. Please enter me in your drawing. Many thanks.....Cindi

When you do plan your trip, don't forget the wild Connemara region.

If you'd like to hike with a holy purpose, trod the rocky path St. Patrick climbed hundreds of years ago when he fasted and prayed at the top of Croagh Patrick for his country. A clear day will reward you with a view of over 360 dots o' green amid an azure sea.

Years ago I read "How the Irish saved civilization" and was fascinated with the St. Patrick story. I think it would be interesting to walk where he walked and see what he saw

I think I need to get into the history of this country...I'm sorry to say I know very little about it! I do know the scenery is breath-taking!

As Jolene said, a great start would be How the Irish Saved Civilization. Then I'd read Angela's Ashes for the sheer artistry of the language and the use of words. It's a triple-Kleenex box story, though...

I have always loved anything to do with Ireland - it's people, music, the beautiful countryside, etc. Here's a few things that come to mind:

1) Movies - Darby O'Gill and the Little People, Finnian's Rainbow

2) Riverdance

3) The story of St. Patrick

4) Celtic Woman

And I saved the best for last:
5) Keith & Kristyn Getty, who live in Belfast and wrote "In Christ Alone" and other great modern hymns.

I would love to read Patti's book. Thank you for this giveaway.
