"A Hope Undaunted" Book Review

A HOPE UNDAUNTED
BY
JULIE LESSMAN

As the 1920s come to a close, Katie O'Connor epitomizes "the new woman"---smart and sassy with goals that include a law career and the perfect husband. But when she spends the summer of 1929 with childhood nemesis Cluny McGee, Katie faces an unexpected choice: commit to her ideal boyfriend, Jack, ---or the man she's always despised?

Available September 2010 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.

MY REVIEW:

Julie Lessman continues the epic saga of the O'Connor family of Boston in her newest book, "A Hope Undaunted". This book follows youngest daughter Katie as she comes of age in the Roaring 20's. We still get to follow everyone else in the family but we meet a few new characters and see a few old ones return. This story line is full of more twists, turns and ups and downs than any of the others. Julie continues to stretch the boundaries of historical fiction and she brings this particular book is downright edgy. Take the passion in the characters, the circumstances of their lives and add in actual events like the stock market crash and all in all this book is a pleasure to read.

******Special thanks to Donna Hausler and Revell for my review copy of this book.

JANNA!!! Sooo glad you got a chance to read it -- I know you were really bogged down preparing for conference. Thank you for the wonderful review AND for posting it on Amazon.com -- MUCH appreciated!

It was SO fun seeing you and your mom and Cara again -- just like an O'Connor family reunion, right? WITHOUT the dramatics ... :)

Hugs,
Julie
